Can this be modified to include empty search results?

    I always use this plugin, and now I wonder if the 404 page can also be shown when a search returns zero results. Would be nice to add a few options on that page, including the search form so visitors can try again if they want to.

    It probably can, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

    4xx status code is about the document or resource not being found, not that a particular database query returned zero results.

    If you wanted a different HTTP header for some reason, then 204 No Content may fit your needs (2xx indicates a success at finding the document or resource), but that’s outside the scope of this plugin.
