• I am migrating my website from Twenty Twenty to TT4 Twenty Twenty Four on a localhost copy. Going to FSE is a bit of a learning curve, and I’m having trouble understanding what I can or cannot modify.

Is it possible to change the Post Template so that it will include more than 10 posts per page? I can’t find a way to do this within the FSE. See screenshot.

  • There is a setting in WordPress ‘Appearance > Editor > Templates > Index’: POSTS PER PAGE.

Me too I am considering using 2024 and it’s a bit confusing I agree.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried editing the Index template, although the description says:

    Index

Used as a fallback template for all pages when a more specific template is not defined.

So I set the index template to a max of 18 posts per page and I set its inner “post template” to 6 columns as above. But I can’t find any search where this index template is used on my website

I have a similar issue and did some research.

In the Site Editor, the “POSTS PER PAGE” can be set for only 2 templates : “Index” and “Blog Home”.
It cannot be set for other templates such as “Search Results”, which is probably what @prmyapps is looking for.
“POSTS PER PAGE” can also be set in the dashboard Reading Settings.
Changing this setting on any of the 3 places, is effective on the other 2.

It would be nice to have this setting on a per template basis.

After careful considerations; I have spent nearly two weeks with 2024 and I have decided to go with GeneratePress and GenerateBlocks (lots similarities in fact) —?tons og great tutorials out there. If you want something a bit more bespoke and flexible it’s not going to be straight forward with 2024 unless you are a developers, there are many too many limitations.

    All the best,
    Gin

    Hi @jpgoem,

thank you so much for telling me about the 3 places where I can set the “POSTS PER PAGE”. It doesn’t help my immediate problem, but it gives me ideas on how to solve some other issues.

Thanks for your help too, Gin. I try to stick to vanilla WP, because I am leery of what theme developers might stick into my database. I used to develop in FORTRAN, then COBOLish, a little C, and then Lotus Notes. Too bad I never learned php or CSS, but I’m too cognitive-limited ?? these days to pick those up, which I am sure would help with these problems. Oh well. -mj lee
