can the plugin do these preferred features

    hi I hope the forum doesn’t mind if I list down some ‘dream features’ we are looking for in one go so I wouldn’t have to research if the plugin is able to provide each.

    1. Categorize members per City & Profession.
    2. Automate the joining process, allowing for upload of PDFs and images, for final approval by Administrator via email link.
    3. Allow the public the ability to see certain details, ie. Number of members, Number of members per profession, Number of members per City, and so on. But keep the Names, Contact Info and Companies private.
    4. Allow the Members to update their info themselves.

    I’m sure some are easy but I’m not familiar with #2 in particular. Thank you so much for your time.

    RE: Categorize members per City & Profession.

    The City and Title fields can be used for this data. You can also create City and Profession categories and attach them to directory entries.

    RE: Automate the joining process … for final approval by Administrator via email link.

    You can use any method you wish for registering your users to your site.

    For example, you can choose to use the built-in WordPress registration process:

    RE: allowing for upload of PDFs and images

    Connections does not allow for uploading random documents such as PDFs. It does, however support an image for a logo and a photo.

    RE: Allow the public the ability to see certain details, ie. Number of members, Number of members per profession, Number of members per City, and so on. But keep the Names, Contact Info and Companies private.

    Sorry, Connections does not have this feature.

    RE: Allow the Members to update their info themselves.

    This is possible. It requires at least the Link addon and optionally the Form addon. Here are the links:

    The idea is that the organization would show off the number of members it has in that area so as to encourage more to join.

    I’d also like to use the same idea for say, showing the public how many members are Doctors, Engineers or Lawyers, and so on.

    If there is nothing off the shelf to do this would you accept an offer for this feature?
