Can the look blockquoted text be made more obvious?

Blockquote creates an indented block and italicizes it, but the visual difference in the text is minimal. Is there a way to make the blockquoted text stand out more? For instance, a darker background color for the block, or larger quotation marks? I have seen some themes that do that automatically, so I assume that it is possible with Weaver, but I could not find a setting for it. Is there a setting, or maybe some code that could be used to change the default look of the blockquote?
