Can still disable by renaming pluginfolder in ftp?

    I have been using the old version (1.7.1). Sometimes I had a problem with being locked out so I was able to just rename the plugin directory from ftp and then I could login as the plugin was disabled.
    For this new updated version, if I rename the plugin directory via ftp, does it disable the plugin and let me log in if I am locked out?
