    I am a webdesigner and a new customer asked me this:

    He offers software where he wants to add a subscription possibility.

    The users must login to the software, the software connects to a online database. In this database there are different fields like username, etc. He wants to add fields like type of subscription (monthly – $5, yearly – $50, lifetime – $200) the user have

    Therefore he want to have an online website, where the user must login, using the same username. Maybe a unique hascode that the software on the users computer generate to secure something up.

    As i can see it is possible to use this plugin to
    – Create an online user account with several custom fields
    – Create 3 different packages of paypal payments (monthly, yearly, lifetime)

    But the main question is, is it possible to export the type of subscription the user has and if the payment is succeeded? So to connect the two databases.

    If the user have a succesful payment, the user can use the software.
    If the payment has failed or stopped, the user cannot use the software anymore.

    I hope it is clear what is neccesary and that this plugin can do this.

    1. Do you mean exporting from the s2Member website or from the current database?

    2. Could the current database be housed within a WordPress installation? If so, then there is no need for two databases anyway. s2Member and the original database could just co-exist on the same installation.

    3. s2Member automatically connects with the payment processor, so will allow access only if a user has made the relevant payments.

    Custom fields are easy to add with s2member. You also have options on if these are visible or editable to by the user after registration. The data is stored in a column in the user field that is exportable.

    Each processor supported has the option of monthly, yearly, lifetime etc etc and are very easy to automatically create.

    As far as I know, s2 only protects the content or things that are on your website (specific pages and things like that). If they have to actually be on the website to use the software (like when you use gmail you have to go log into gmail) it should work fine…it it’s something where they only have to log in to download and then they don’t have to log back in to actually use the product, I’m not sure if s2member supports that or at least I haven’t seen it and I’ve spent way too long in these forums lol

    Thanks for the answers. I think this is the right plugin. I am gonna test it out.
