I’m doing a site for a private organization and I’d like to know if the outbound RSS feed can be turned off. The posts and comments are protected by the User Access Manager plugin, so nobody without access can actually read them, but the post titles still show up in the RSS feeds if you know the feed URLs. So, basically anybody who knows how WordPress structures its feed links would be able to spy on what topics they are discussing, which they don’t want.

    Thanks!

  • Delete wp-includes/feed*.php from your site and let them try.

    I hope this helps.

That didn’t work. It caused errors every time I tried to navigate to any post, page, category, archive, etc.

    Whoops, my bad. Sorry.

I guess WordPress changed stuff again since I did this.

SS_Minnow there are many “WordPress Disable RSS Plugin”s that do this. That’s the best way short of editing wp-includes/feeds.php.

Thanks. The key is to use the right search terms. I did find the “Disable RSS” plugin. Now if you browse to one of the feed links you simply get a message saying that there are no feeds available, and please visit the home page. Perfect.
