Can not publish new posts

    Beginning this evening, I can no longer publish new posts on my blog at https://www.stephendanko.com.

    I write a new post and click on “Publish” but nothing happens. The new post does not even show up on the list of posts. If I try to edit an existing post, everything seems to proceed normally, but when I click publish, the changes have not been incorporated.

    Furthermore, it appears that comments have stopped coming in. I usually get 1000+ spam comments per day, but that’s completely stopped.

    I called my host (Yahoo! Small Business). They said they can’t see anything wrong and suggested that I contact WordPress.

    I’m using WordPress 2.0.2.

    Please upgrade your wordpress to the latest 2.7.1 and repair/upgrade the database accordingly..i hope this should resolve the issue..

    I too am having the same problem as of today. I’m on 2.1.3.

    What is causing the issue and why is the upgrade necessary? The last time I tried upgrading it broke my site; simply upgrading asap doesn’t sound like an amazing option to me.

    I tried to upgrade last year at WordCamp San Francisco. One of the guys at the Expert Bar upgraded my blog for me. Unfortunately, when I got home, I noticed that I could publish new posts but the pages, archives, comments, etc. no longer worked. I reverted to 2.0.2 where everything worked fine until recently.

    After reading the above comment to upgrade, I went back to the version installed by the guy at the Expert Bar at WordCamp. I can once again publish new posts, but nothing else works.

    I’m willing to hire someone to get my blog running properly. I’m just not able to figure this out myself. Thanks for any help.

    Why did this happen today? Everything was working perfectly fine until now. Has something changed at the WordPress end?

    It looks like there are two solutions: upgrade or have the host perform a restore to a point before the problem began. It seems that people are finding that their files have been modified.

    I find this forum a bit frustrating, I can’t seem to find any real answers to my question and can’t see a spot where I could post a new question.

    I am currently using the latest version of WP and am having the same problem as the folks above me, I write my blog, hit the publish button and nothing. my page is blank. my post is saved, just not published.
    I understand if I was using an older version of WP that hacking could be the problem, but I am using the current (downloaded it July 19, 2009)

    I have yet to be able to post anything.

    does anyone have any ideas on this problem?
