and here are two more errors when i go to install

Warning: require_once(ABSPATHwp-admin/includes/admin.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/getpaida/public_html/a1affiliatemarketing.com/wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php on line 16

    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘ABSPATHwp-admin/includes/admin.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/getpaida/public_html/a1affiliatemarketing.com/wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php on line 16

any ideas? I notice the upgrade.php – which I am not
upgrading, I am trying to install a fresh install.

I am not sure what to do, i have already uploaded this about 5 times tonight, here is a new error..

Warning: Unterminated comment starting line 2 in /home/getpaida/public_html/a1affiliatemarketing.com/wp-load.php on line 2

Warning: require_once(ABSPATHwp-admin/includes/admin.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/getpaida/public_html/a1affiliatemarketing.com/wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php on line 16

    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'ABSPATHwp-admin/includes/admin.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/getpaida/public_html/a1affiliatemarketing.com/wp-admin/includes/upgrade.php on line 16

these errors refer to missing files
for some reason all of your files are not getting uploaded

    Thread Starter dscurlock

    (@dscurlock)

FTP/connection problem maybe? Ive been using the same FTP for years now…ive never had any issues with missing files until now, at least none that I know of..ive uploaded about 10 times already since last night…no change so far…

    (@dscurlock)

damn it to hell..it looks like it was making progress by saying your config is not setup, then when i clicked on it…

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end, expecting ‘(‘ in /home/getpaida/public_html/a1affiliatemarketing.com/wp-includes/compat.php on line 21

    Thread Starter dscurlock

    (@dscurlock)

what is causing this to happen? I notice files that would be 3k being upload as just a few bytes of data…

figured it was something like that
I’ve done installs like that on hosts – then come back a couple of hours later and all is fine for uploading

you might try using filezilla – it’s the most reliable ftp client I’ve found

    Thread Starter dscurlock

    (@dscurlock)

can you give me an example of how filezilla works…

its asking for server address, and admin passw??

what i am trying is not working..a typical
ftp asks for IP/Host, user login, and password…

I am not sure about filezilla, if there is no user
name, how is it to connect?

    Thread Starter dscurlock

    (@dscurlock)

I am using FTP filezilla, same issues…

2 FTP’s having upload issues with WP.

maybe you should check your files for upload issues,
afterall, its not like this is the first
    complaint with 2.7.1

    Thread Starter dscurlock

    (@dscurlock)

dozens of files are 0 bytes…can you really say this is an FTP issue? two ftps were used, and the files are just refusing to upload after trying over and over again…

    after using 2 ftp’s, I doubt this is a FTP issue…
either it is a server issue, or a WP issue with the
files…knowing what sorta service I have, I am leaning
more toward a server issue at this point concerning
    the uploads…

Hi I have problems installing 2.7.1 but I think its because when I downlloaded the zip file it extracted to one folder and not the sub foldwers of wp-admin, wp-content & wp-includes. I have installed an earlier version that has those sub folders and it works fine.
How can I download the zip with the sub folders as I don’t want to have to create them and then move the files over manually.
    Thanks…

    Thread Starter dscurlock

    (@dscurlock)

its not the server, as I have tried two servers today. its not the ftp, as i have already tried 2 ftp’s… I am still getting the above errors..there has to be something wrong with the zip, and ive already downloaded the zip twice also….

why would it matter where the zip extracts too? as long as you upload the blog files wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes, and the rest of the files…I upload them directly to my domain.com as i do not need a domain.com/blog…is this the reason maybe?

you can see the error here…

can anyone provide the latest stable version of word press? maybe if i try to install that to see if that works, then I could upgrade to the latest, if it works at all…i was looking for a earlier version on WP site and all the offer is the latest version…doesnt help if it doesnt work.

who is your host? You may need to set it to “active” mode
    in filezilla
edit – settings – click on ftp
switch to active and try uploading

I know that many of the php files have relative paths to other php files in the /wp_includes/wp-admin/wp-content directories. This was the problem I first had trying to install V2.7.1. The install failed because, even though I had the files in the root directory, it was looking for a sub directory. Once I uploaded that structure it worked fine. My only problem now is that I want to upgrade to the latest version and the zip doesn’t seem to have that structure.
