can not get Jetpack comments to work on my template

+1 Jetpack is easy, just you have a framework on top of it like Tara says.

not sure what the solution is? i contacted them and they had no answer

well, a few words then:

jetpack will try to overwrite default comments.php file (not overwrite, but grab it above).
if you use a custom comment file / engine, it might fail to locate this file hence blank, for example.

for example, i tried recently with disqus, very similar logic, it seems it works, but with different file locations or so in core php files and depending html/css.
