Can not edit images in backend

  • i have a problem, i can not edit (crop, rotate, scale, …) images in the backend of wordpress, on my local machine with apache it works fine. I checked the permissions of the image the are on 777.

    Is there a library which i need to install on the webserver? wordpress version: 3.8.1

    * i also tried to deactivate all plugins and removed the functions.php, same problem …

    ok, now the cropping works, i checked the functions.php for empty spaces after the ?> the close tag, but rotating still not works

    in case anyone has the same problem,
    the problem was the php imagerotate() function was not supported in case that GD version on the server was deprecated.
