Hi,

I installed WPMU on hostgator, everything is fine except I can not add new site in wp-admin/network/sites.php

I installed the fresh WP4.2.2 with default WP theme, no plugins activated.

I faced this errors

The screen is dead at this.

I contacted with hostgator support staff but they can’t solve the problem.

Can someone give me a suggestion please?

I really need to get the site works properly.

Changing the DB_COLLATE define in the wp-confing file worked for me. I will keep that until the new release fixes this, I know is not the best solution but it will let the things work until then..

define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8mb4’);
define(‘DB_COLLATE’, ‘utf8mb4_general_ci’);

@chriscct7 This has been going on for a few weeks, considering the risks you mention by changing the DB_COLLATE, is there any alternative to fix this until the update comes out?

I got it to work by upgrading one of my servers to PHP 5.6 – The other does not yet have that option. When starting one from scratch I was able to set it up with WordPress 4.0 and then was able to add the inner sites. It’s a corny work around that only works if you are setting up the site from scratch. Hoping for a solution here as well.

Switching to PHP 5.5.3 (from 5.4.x) did it for me.

on wp-config.php try to change:

define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8mb4’);
to
define(‘DB_CHARSET’, ‘utf8’);

Changing ‘utf8mb4’ to ‘utf8’ in the wp-config.php file fixed the issue for me.
