Can multiple sites be a multisite?

  • Hi –

    I have 25 WP sites to build. Each one will use the same template but have different content. Is it possible to make them a multisite set up, or do we need to build 25 different sites?

    The sites need to appear independent of each other with separate google tracking. All have their own domains (not subdomains).

    I’ve been reading about multi site installation, but am still unclear on how the content is affected.

    You can use Multisite for this, sure.

    Content is segregated per site. It’s like running 25 separate sites, only you have just one place to update plugins and such ??

    Keep in mind, each site is separate, so widgets and such are per-site.

    So I’ll need to set up widgets and menus for each site? is there any way to duplicate the widget settings?

    Plugins aren’t a big issue on these sites, its the setting up of the first 9 pages, first blog post, etc. Will all that still need to be done for each individual site?

    Yes BUT. There are plugins to help! Like ‘New Blog Defaults’ or Replicator. They’ll duplicate a site, so initial setup is ‘the same.’

    After installing the multisites function, does it explain how to add the additional sites or is there somewhere I can read about that? codex did not go that far.

    Install WordPress

    Activate Multisite.

    Go to wp-admin -> Network

    It’s there on the dash ??
