I am using GF for daily progress reports for some students. The teachers fill out the short form at the end of each day. I would like to view each student’s progress over time, based on the entries filled out on the forms. I want the charted information to “compare” them to their own previous data but not previous data of other students. That way we can see trends of each student as compared to themself. As of now it seems that the results of all entries are charted based on the question and there’s no way to use conditional logic to filter all the chart results by a specific field, such as student name.

    Hi @fcvolunteer,

I would like to view each student’s progress over time, based on the entries filled out on the forms.

What does it mean ? what would you like to chart exactly ?

I want the charted information to “compare” them to their own previous data but not previous data of other students. That way we can see trends of each student as compared to themself.

You can chart data limited to a specific user creator or specific field : https://maxicharts.com/category/custom-search-criteria/

Yes it is possible, again, see https://maxicharts.com/category/custom-search-criteria/

What do you see in your mind when you say you would like to “see trends” ? Can you please detail ?

The teachers have a form where they choose a student from a dropdown and then they fill in the date, select the skills that student is learning and then they rate the day’s progress, using GF Survey add-on, of each of those skill areas.

After filling out these forms for several days, we want to be able to look at the entries and see progress trends of whether the student’s progress is improving over time or staying the same and where they may need more help to master the skills.

I used the custom search criteria to limit the entries based on the name of a specific student. Thanks for that.

Now I’m wondering how to have the bar chart show the date on the bottom axis instead of the value of the answer. For ex: I want the date the form was filled in (which is also a field on the form) to be at the bottom of the chart and have the bars marking their progress: great, not great, ok to show based on the date’s entry
