This website is working as it should, but as of today I can login with Chrome, but not Firefox. Firefox gives the error “The page isn’t redirecting properly”. It doesn’t look like I logged out of the site because in Firefox I can see the top bar for Admin — it just won’t switch to the Dashboard or any other internal Admin screen.

We fixed some bugs in the theme a few weeks ago and have made some changes to the plugins so it is difficult to point at anything specific for a culprit. I usually do all of my work in Firefox, so this is a new glitch. I’ve read other threads but with the site itself looking good I’m not sure of the best place to start.

    Any suggestions?

  • Does it work if you open Firefox in Private Browsing mode?

I recommend clearing cookies/cache for firefox as well as history.

This should fix that, then try again.

Let us know if the issue is persisting.

Hello, thanks for the help. Private browsing didn’t work. Neither has clearing the cache and cookies. Is there something else I can do?

Oh, the one thing that did change is that Firefox no longer thinks I am logged in, so the top bar indicator has disappeared. I am instead offered the login form.

Have you tried logging in from Firefox on a different device?

Doing this to rule out any chance of this being a user side issue and not one that’s server or WP side.

thanks David Uzelac, I tried it on another computer. It still fails to redirect.

Something funky is going on. Went to the site and it redirected to this URL https://www.stuffadjust.com/?doing_wp_cron=1442879150.3767030239105224609375.

Not doing it again so some kind of fluke event.

Sadly, the inability to login using Firefox remains consistent.

The one new development is that when I tried to login with Firefox today I was greeted by the math problem before moving on to the 404 error. At that point the url showed as
    https://www.stuffadjust.com/wp-admin/?doing_wp_cron=1443127728.7579779624938964843750

The cron mention happens quite often, so if it shouldn’t perhaps someone can point me at some other possible culprits.

Courtesy of my login with Chrome, the following plugins are currently active on the site:
Akismet, BackupBuddy, Display Widgets, Easy Google Fonts, Exclude Pages from Navigation, Fast Secure Contact Form, HMS Testimonials, Hupso Share Buttons for Twitter, FB & G+, Jetpack, Page Tagger, Permalink Finder, Reveal ID’s, Shortcodes Ultimate TinyMCE Advanced, Widget CSS Classes, Wordfence, WP Staging, Yoast SEO

Have you tried disabling all plugins?

    (@catwingz)

Since it is Firefox-specific I am holding off on that for the moment.

One of the plugins, WP-staging has it’s own login nested under the main site. I had not tried this before, but was just able to login to that site on Firefox without difficulty. It has the same plugins. These were all disabled, but I just went through and reactivated them and can still login with Firefox.

    Sounds like a temporary solution!

I’m glad you got something to work for you, I use Firefox as well ??

No, this isn’t a solution. I can login into the development site, but not the public site. In this case, the dev site looks like a subdirectory, but it’s coming from a plugin.

So, the main site login is still a problem.

It might be worth disabling the Wordfence plugin, since it is probably the most likely to be causing this out of the list of plugins you mentioned. Would you be able to disable this as a test?

Pipdig, I tried this. It came back with the ‘not directing properly’ message.
