can it be used for tags ?

is it possible to use this for product tags rather than attributes that work as variations please?

i basically want to show swatches that sit underneath the short product description or add to cart button, on product pages, that tell the customer if a product is Vegan, gluten Free etc. So like a Key using small images really.

so i was going to set up product tags for these options, then show swatches on each product. So if they are clicked they dont change the product variation, instead they take you to the tag page for all Vegan products for example.

is this possible please?
