    It’s truly a full replacement of $wpdb. I haven’t thought about creating an SQLite adapted. In general because I don’t know why I should do that. Are there any benefits?

    Thanks for the answer, sounds very interesting!

    Running WP without a dedicated MySQL server is interesting because it takes down the requirements a notch. So it would be possible to run WP on ultra-low-specs, like a Raspberry Pi or similar micro-architecture. Or you could load the entire SQLite database in memory for small sites very easily:
