I have a WordPress Landing page I use and like and now want to add a few products on the home page, and a shop section and a Woocommerce side/back-end to this landing page site.

I have another theme that has woocommerce built in and that woocommerce side of the theme looks and works nicely, nice layout and display features etc etc.

My question is – is it possible to take that woocommerce code / files out of the main theme, and add that in to the Landing page by simply copying those files over, and then adding much of what you have presented above ?

If so do you happen to know of a tutorial that describes this ?

    Thanks
    Mark

    Hi @krammig

I’m afraid I’m not completely clear on your question here, so please feel free to provide more detail and/or links to some examples.

If I’m understanding correctly, however, no it is not possible to use another theme’s files within your theme. Depending on what aspects of the design you’re trying to replicate, you might be able to edit the templates for WooCommerce to more closely match what you’re looking for. We have some documentation on WooCommerce Theme Development here and Template Structure & Overriding templates here that might be helpful.

Thank you for the reply, and the reference links.

Yes perhaps I didn’t explain myself well enough ??

On the basis as you have mentioned, that I am unable to take woocommerce files from Theme_A to Theme_B which is fair enough, is it possible then to at least just Add woocommerce as is to a theme that currently does not have a woocommerce component ?

And then I guess tweak the layout of woocommerce from info in those links you provided above ?

    Cheers

Hi @krammig – yes, absolutely. WooCommerce comes with its own theming and so should work with your site right out of the box. From there, you can follow this documentation to override the WooCommerce templates with your own customized templates. You can also override WooCommerce’s default CSS with CSS of your own to match your theme.
