    Hi

I’m looking for a solution to create separate blogs on my site.

Here’s what I would like to achieve:

    1) Main blog page with general posts
    2) Retailer A page with news posts from retailer A
    3) Retailer B page with news posts from retailer B
    4) etc.

I was thinking about using separate categories, but then the retailer posts would still show up in the ‘recent posts’ and ‘categories’ widget of the main blog.

Whilst doing some research I came across ‘custom post types’. Would this allow me to create, for example, a ‘retailer post type’ to keep everything separated?

I don’t think so. Do you need to content manage the retailers news? If not then have you considered importing their news via RSS?

I’m not sure if RSS is possible. Their news would only be published on our site, not on an external site.

Basically, they should be able to log in, create a new post and publish it on their own page (without this post showing up in the main blog).

You can accomplish that with categories.

There are a number of plugins that can help you.
