Can I use a Simple WP tag on a Stripe form?

Yes, I followed those instructions. The mail-merge option custom fields does allow a value entered onto the payment form to be reported on the sellers advice form – the latter is what I want. However, I don’t want to have to ask our members to enter this value, as it’s already in the system as part of the Simple WP Membership plugin (user_name). It would be an unnecessary step. So the question remains -is it OK to add the user_name tag to the Stripe seller email template?

Unfortunately that is not currently available in the Stripe plugin. I have submitted a message to the developers to investigate further your request.

OK, thanks. In the meantime I’ll use the custom fields feature for members to add their user_name on payment.
