Can I set up redirects on a localhost?

    I’m learning my way through WordPress by using a localhost install. I’m building a site that will replace one already hosted.

    I’ve installed a ‘redirection’ plug-in and was wondering if I can set up the redirects before I upload the site. In other words, will all instances of ‘https://localhost etc.’ be converted to the proper domain name once the site has been configured to work online, or will I have to wait until the site is online before setting up the redirects?

    Probably not. You will probably have to set these when the site is setup online. But if the redirection plugin stores the addresses in the database, you might be able to go in phpmyadmin and change the addresses, but unless you have a ton of redirects (which may or may not be a good idea to do anyway), it might just be easier to set them up when you move the site to your live server.

    That’s very helpful. I had a feeling there might be an issue so with your advice I’ll wait until the site’s hosted and then do the redirects.
