Can I set a standard excerpt, or a plain-text one?

    A bad title, I apologise.

    I’d like one of two things. Ideally, I’d like the ‘excerpt’ field on the Add Post page to be plaintext, as in non-HTML, so that one doesn’t need to add a
    to begin a new line.

    If that’s not possible, I’d like a standard excerpt, so that when one loads the Add Post page, it’s already filled in with a pre-written paragraph.

    Are either of thigns things possible, with or without plugins?

    I think i can help you but please tell me what is the use of it? Will you use the excerpt tag ?

    I’m helping to switch a non-profit’s website over to WordPress, so that their volunteers (none of whom are web developers or even very web-savvy, and thus find editing the existing website difficult) can add posts and edit the content. The problem is that the excerpts for the posts — profiles that list rescued dogs with age, illnesses, etc — need to use some HTML, which they can’t do. I’d like to have the excerpts all prewritten with empty gaps for age, weight, illness, etc that they can fill in without worrying about HTML tags.

    you should do this by creating custom fields. Then you will use them to be shown wherever you want inside your single.php file…
