Sorry if this has been addressed, but I’m not sure how to search for it.

Just installed WP as a CMS for a site redesign project and I’m running into an unexpected problem: since the .htaccess file points to the current home page file, and WP uses that same same .htaccess file to base its own starting point on, I can’t seem to figure out how to be building my WP version while allowing the existing site to run unencumbered.

Is that even possible without moving WP into a subdirectory? I’d prefer to avoid that since the site will be running on this platform and I think the client would prefer that it not appear to be running from a subdirectory.

    Here’s the site:

Edit: and here’s where the WP install should be running, but is instead bouncing to the old home page:

  • Hi,

You can not run your website and wordpress into the same directory..hence I prefer you to move your either blog or site into the sub directory…here is the link which will help you to move your wordpress blog within the site:

Okay, thanks Shane. I figured it was probably impossible, but I thought I’d check to make sure.
