Can I run my homepage off of a sub directory of a main site or subdomain
-
I work for a branch of a company that wants to start a blog, and link it to their homepage. The homepage for their branch is for example: https://www.sports.example.com. What I want to know is can I run worpress off of this subdomain, sports, and have the blog homepage be a directory of this domain. Like https://www.sports.example.com/sportsblog. So I would be using the subdomain “sports” to set up our main website, and to run a blog called “sportsblog”. Or do you have to have the wordpress installed directly into the subdomain? I read that you can intall wordpress into its own directory and still have it power the site root. But this is not what I want. I want worpress to power only one component of the main site, and have its hompage as the directory that wordpress is installed in. I want the blog to be able to exist independently too, and be able to be found b y search engines aside from the main site. Does this make sense…is it possible? This is a distinction right…or am I making this harder than it is? I just want to know if I have to create a whole new subdomain to run the blog, or can I run it from a subdirectory of the subdomain and domain name, and have independent control over the FTP files and be able to, for example use Drupal for the main site and WordPress for the blog. I’m sorry but this is all new to me.
Thanks for your help.
