• I copy&paste theme’s page.php to child theme and plan to create a page template.
What’s gonna happen if I remove the loop? Can I remove it safely?

    Regards

  • You can always create another copy can’t you? So make whatever changes you like..

You may also wish to review the loop codex page for understanding it’s purpose.

    Thanks for reply!
I read the loop codes, understand some of its basic functions, but I don’t understand what I would miss out.
For the moment, this template is for my static front page. But, in the future, if I want any further process, such as… adding a plug in, or adding a components…to get content from this page or display content on this page…, then, can wordpress still find this page and operate on it?

A page template is just a file that loads when particular pages are requested(those you attach the template to), if you remove the loop, when any of those pages are requested they’ll not have any content, other than what you place into the page template..

ok, if so, I’ll go ahead and remove the loop on my customized pages.
