Can i remove Jquery java script

Hello
I am optimizing my blog and so have removed all unnecessary scripts.
I was wondering if I can safely remove Jquery. Its loaded from WordPress core. My site does not use any script ro render except some share buttons. I just removed it and everything worked well.
So can continue with Jquery or do WordPress needs it and I have to put it back.
