    I would like to remove this plugin, but I’m unclear if removing it will weird out my site.

    Please will you advise?

    Karen

    Hi Karen;
    As per the FAQ;

    1. Disable the plugin (this will remove options and cache)
    2. Remove the plugin
    3. Clear any cache that might still have pages which reference Autoptimized CSS/JS (e.g. of a page caching plugin such as WP Super Cache)

    Have a nice day,
    frank

    I am not planning to remove the plugin as I like it a lot. However, for future reference, can you elaborate on number 3) above?

    Do you mean I need to do it only if I am using another plugin such as Super Cache? If I am not, than no need to worry?

    Also, on a daily basis, can I select “delete cache” whenever I want while I am using Autoptimize?

    correct, but keep in mind some hosters also have a page caching layer (e.g. WP Engine & Siteground) and e.g. cloudflare also has a cache of your pages, so in that case you would need purging there.

    you can if need be, but I would advice against that, as it means the JS/ CSS will need to be optimized again and again, which can limit the performance-impact AO is supposed to have ??

    Thanks Frank! Last question —

    So how often should I delete the cache? Only when I get the in-built warning when it reaches a high level?

    that would indeed be my suggestion. if this happens fast, you should consider that a canary-in-the-coalmine warning (but if you’re not aggregating inline JS, chances of that are small) …
