    Long story short:
I was trying to get rid of all my post revisions to help my WP blog run faster. I installed Better Delete Revision and proceeded to delete what I thought were the countless post revisions. Although I just followed the default settings, I obviously did something wrong and ended up deleting all my draft posts–those ideas that I’d jot down for future posts. Years of work gone. Not in the trash. Gone. (Ironically, it didn’t delete the old revisions!)

I do back up my work on an exterior hard drive but I don’t know if I can retrieve the old drafts. And if so, how?

  • I’m afraid that if the draft posts aren’t in trash, they’re lost for good. If you have a recent database backup, perhaps you can retrieve them from there?

I do have a database backup but I haven’t a clue how to extract the draft posts from it!

You’d need to look in the wp_posts table/section of the backup file.

Went to my host and they walked me through restoring my wp_posts table. It worked! Thanks for suggestion!
