Can I publish a theme here under MIT license?

  • Hello.
    I’m planning to release a clone of a Jekyll theme released under MIT License into the WordPress theme directory.

    Can I use the MIT license to put it here? The original work uses the MIT license. If not, do you think that making it GPL will break the conditions of the original MIT licensed jekyll theme?
