Can I publish a single page with several videos of square aspect ratio?

I have not yet set my site; it is part of my research (Uni of Sussex).
I want to have a single page with several videos that can be viewed when clicked on.
The videos are very short, in square format and weight very little (similar to Vine videos).
Does the theme support videos instead of photos on the home page?
Are there any limitations about where can they be hosted? I.e. can they be hosted remotely (like vine or youtube, or just on the media folder for the site?)
