Some minutes ago an user, registered via facebook and social login, has sent pm to many users (dating messages).
Flag as spam, but this cause some problem in any web communities ??

Can I prevent other similar issue with this plugin?
Or, someone know other buddypress plugins to permit only limits pm numbers?

    Or only after approved messages?
    Or only to friends?
I really sad not exist similar settings by default in buddypress.

    Thanks in advance for reply,
    S.N. (laltroweb.it)

I can’t guarantee 100% coverage of all areas of BuddyPress, but we try to get as much coverage as possible with our plugin here. If you have the “moderated users” level setting set, then people are able to log in and browse around, but we hide as much of the UI focused on interacting as possible. If you set the private network setting, then they can log in, but they will be limited to their own profile area only, until approved.

Thanks for reply. A good idea can be a filter to disable messages to “non approved users”.

I’ll try to ask support also to buddypress support ??

The biggest question is if the buttons to send messages are already hidden or not. I’ll try and check to confirm that a bit later when I have a longer moment, but it may be worth testing on your own, just in case already covered.

    Hey Salvatore,

Just did a double check, and this is what I’m seeing when viewing user profile: https://cloudup.com/c_Kd3rJtFOM

The top half is an approved member, viewing a profile. Has the actions of canceling friendship, private/public messaging, etc.

The bottom half is a moderated user, not approved yet, but not in “Private network” mode. Note that the buttons are removed. It’s also not a case of just hidden via CSS, I made sure to filter them out from being rendered at all.

Hopefully this covers the cases you were referring to.

    Very interesting ??
Is this in dev or public release?

I’ll test again and release you a feedback asap.

    Kind regards,

    Hi,
I just tested the plugin at my site and the buttons are in place also the user is not approved. How can I solve this?

Possible that your case either has them added in a way that the plugin doesn’t cover, or potentially some recent changes to how BuddyPress works has made the original hiding method from me stop working like it used to.

What version of BuddyPress are you running @dabiathlet

    dabiathlet

    (@dabiathlet)

I’m on version 2.8.2 of buddypress.

Hmm, just checked with the latest version of BuddyPress trunk, and Twentyseventeen, and buttons were still hidden for my logged in but not approved user.

I’m willing to take a first hand peak if you’re willing to share the website. I’ll register in the provided manor so that we get my user marked as pending, and I can check on some details from there.

    Not seeing them myself:

    https://cloudup.com/cwzFa2aa9El

The spot that would have them, if I recall right, is found at https://cloudup.com/c-UF4YX8V5k and it’s an empty div at the moment.

Also couldn’t comment/favorite/etc some activity statuses on a profile with some.

Just on the off chance, do you recall which profile you were viewing at the time?

Did you check with your profile? I visited my profile and could send messages from there.

Sounds like that part is a case of the pending user is showing up in the list of who can be messaged, and would be a spot that isn’t covered yet. I’ll need to patch that one up. I’m sure I didn’t think of that one previously.
