Can I move a site to a domain that already has a site

  • I have been developing a new WordPress site in a short term domain that I need to move and replace our old website. Is this possible or will I have to take down our current site and start from scratch?

  • You can move to an existing site, yes. If the existing site needs to remain up for now it’s best if you move WordPress into a folder. You don’t want the existing site and the WP site in the same folder.

    I have a backup of both sites to be on the safe side. Will I need to remove the site from the destination site before I do the move so I start with a clean slate?
