Can I manipulate Category IDs to get the URL structure I want?

  • I have been re-doing the categories in the blog i write (blog.420petition.com) and I cant find a way to keep the URL structure i need. I found out that because of the numerical hierarchy of category IDs wordpress messes up posts.

    Basically I need a Category A “us news”/ sub-Category B “state news” / post name structure but because of the ID numbers it will sometimes work and sometimes it will substitute these with a Category C “topics” / post name structure. All article do have a topic assigned but this is a category I don’t need in any news URLs.

    If I could somehow change the category ID# or otherwise mess with the hierarchy I could fix it, but I can’t find a way.
