Can I make state field appear only if the selected country is US?

I want required “State” field on checkout and I want it to show only if the selected Country is is US. At the moment if I set this field to required, it is required regardless of the Country, and if I set it to non-required then people can enter their shipping info without state in US which does not work well for me.

Is it possible to make state field appear only if the selected country is US? If so, how can I do this? Thank you!
