Ok, I am hours into trying to figure this one out. Can I make a blog post template in the free version of Elementor? All I see in the drop down when I make a template is Page, Section, Landing Page.

Also, IF I can, HOW do I use that template to make a new blog post??

All seems so simple, yet I am running in circles. ??
Who’s on first, what’s on second, and somebody’s rounding third.

  • Hi,

What you can do is create a page template and make the layout.

Then click on the new post, add the template you made into that post and add the content.

Aaaahhh! Everything I found (so far) on the internet said chose “post template” when creating a new post template, which I have no option to make in the free version of Elementor.

So now I have created a “page” template and saved it, yep, I can see it under templates, BUT, when I go to create a new post, chose edit with Elementor, I see nowhere to pick a template, except under the Pro options, and as stated, I am not using pro. Am I missing a step? ??

    A Update 2+ hours later:

According to https://elementor.com/help/how-to-fix-the-preview-could-not-be-loaded-error/?utm_source=editor-panel&utm_medium=wp-dash&utm_campaign=learn#permissions, I need Elementor Pro to do this. ALSO,(occasionally), when i try to create a new blog post with Elementor I get the error pop up window “The Preview Could Not Be Loaded, not Found 404”. Activating safe mode does not help. I have yet been able to reliably create a test blog post using Elementor, and not been able to use a template at all. Still digging for answers though.

WHEEEEEWWWWW! Sorry about all the “yea buts” here y’all, trying to troubleshoot this myself on a Sunday while most everybody else is off.

Figured out how to use a PAGE template for a POST template while using the free version of elementor (THANKS @talmo !!!). Here is a link to my first post with a template https://enjoyncwithme.com/elementor-2838/. Yea, lots of tweaking needed, but at least i am on a path again and not lost in the woods.

Now i have several questions directly related to this. Do i continue asking on this thread or start a new one for each question since technically my original question has been answered?

    Hi,

I am happy to see that you managed to use the template for your post!

    I do appreciate your updates!

You can either continue here or open a new topic, for your convenience.
I will make a note to check the topics often so you won’t have to wait too long.

    THANKS @talmo !

Here’s my next questions. All are related to the original post, so i will keep going here.

1 – When i go to post, add new post, edit with elementor, sometimes, (often), i get the error popup “the preview could not be loaded. Not found 404”. Choosing safe mode does not help. The link to the help file does not mention “sometimes it doens’t work”. I have disabled all plugins (except elementor) and that did not help, (they have been reactivated).

2 – IF i can get past the edit with elementor choice, i CAN chose one of my templates to create a post. My question here is, is there a better choice for a text block? Currently i am using the Text Editor and it seems to get quite funky with displaying text if i insert a lot of text.

3 – On ALL of my blog post, at the top left under my logo is the words “Blog – Latest News”. I realize this is where the page title shows up. I do not have a page by that title. I DID use this wording for a blog category in the past, but have deleted it. WHERE is it being pulled from now, and how can i prevent that line of text from showing up in the future? My intentions, and correct me if i am going down the wrong path, is to stop listing, say, attractions on a singular page, and start listing them as a blog post. Actually, most everything as blog post with different categories. Of course I will have static pages where static pages should be.

    Hi,

I will try and answer your questions as best as I can.

    1. This could be a result of several issues, like permalink issues, insufficient memory limit, and other settings.

    To troubleshoot this issue:
From the WordPress dashboard, navigate to Settings > Permalinks. Set the permalinks to Plain and see if it solves the issue. If not, continue to the next step.
From the WordPress dashboard, navigate to Elementor > Settings > Advanced. Switch the front-end editor loader method and see if it solves the issue. If not, continue to the next step.

Contact your hosting company and verify that:
Your WordPress setup/server meets the minimum requirements for Elementor, especially a memory Limit of 256M.

They enable zlib.output_compression module which can compress the data and may help with the loading of the editor when servers have limited resources.
They deactivate ModSecurity temporarily to rule out an issue with a rule set via this firewall. If it is the issue, checking the ModSecurity logs will help your hosting company to solve this.

    2. As for the text editor, it is a bit glitchy when inserting text and can take a few minutes to show the correct layout.
Unfortunately. we do not have a different editor at the moment, but, you can work around it and use the heading widget, you can click on the hamburger icon and then on site settings, set the heading typography so you can use it as a make-shift text editor.
Another option is to create the text in the WP editor by clicking on edit, not edit with elementor and set the text there, then copy paste to the text editor.

It’s not perfect but this might help.

    3. Every page has a title, it cannot be deleted so it is probably pulling it from the last source.
You can go int that page and click on the little setting gear at the bottom of the widget panel and then click on hide title.
I hope I answered this question but please tell me if I didn’t.

    Thanks @talmo.

Been working on it. Tried everything on my end, those did not work. Dealing with host is taking awhile ??.

2 – Thanks for the text editor info. Glad it’s not just me.

3 – After trail and error, I found that the post page title is being inserted by my theme. I still have no idea WHERE it is getting the text from, but regardless. I decided to just go into the theme and disable title and breadcrumbs. That cleared that one up.

I will leave this conversation open until my host and I meet in the middle with a proper resolution to the 404 error, then I will post the resolution here in hopes that it helps others.

    Hi,

This topic might close after some time, please do update us with a new topic if this one closes, it’s automated.

    Update 07-22-2022

    RESOLVED!
Not what i was looking, but…..

FINALLY got a host tech person that stuck it out with me, the first few kept telling me there was nothing wrong ??. Had a multi part “concern” on their end. A disk space warning, server caching, and the dreaded “you are using too much of our resources” (small site on a small package, but i AM hitting it hard while rebuilding the site).

“Due to over disk space usage there is chances that cpu resource conduption will be breaching allocated 25% which is the limit for the shared packages”.

So, I hope that by me posting my question and eventual answer here helps someone else.

    Again, THANKS @talmo !
