Before I invest in the Pro version I would like to know if the following is possible.

I would like files uploaded on a specific page to be listed only on that page. I need the ability to have any user (‘guest’, not logged in) to upload a few files to a page and then see her specific file(s) only on that page.

Please let me know if this is possible, and how to do it.

    Many thanks!

Hi, yes what you can ask can be done. The uploader is by default configured to allow guests to upload files as well.

The Professional version supports a file viewer, which can be added on the same page and display only the files of the specific user (it has many filters and can be configured in a number of ways).

Please note that if a guest (non-logged user) uploads files, they will be shown on the file viewer as long as the page is open. If the guest closes the page in her browser and tries to open it again the next day, she will not see the files because the website does not know who is this guest.

Many thanks nickboss for your quick reply. I’ve now purchased the Pro version and it’s doing exactly what I need – great!

Just 1 little thing: can you tell me why userdata is reported in the browser inside <select> tags? Is there a way to just have it in a <span> like the date?

how many userdata fields you have?

    Just the 1

ok, in that case use the visual editor of the file viewer, go to Columns, remove the User Fields column and add a Custom one. Set its title to anything you want and its ID to 1. It will show the userdata field data without <select> element.

    Perfect!!

Many thanks nickboss for your prompt and very helpful replies!

I have a couple of other small questions but I’ll start new threads for these.

Hello Nickolas, I am new to this and will be purchasing PRO. But….today I am simply trying to wrap my head around the basics. I am using Site Ground, I have your plug in
installed/activated. I created a page and have uploaded photos.. I can see the files in the WordPress File Upload Control Panel. (just like your demo illustrates)HOWEVER…
I can not see the pics, or open them I should say. I can see the details, I can even download to my computer, but I can not move them to a page on WP site.. ??? At this point all I want to do is “re-locate” them to a different page.(similar to media) OR even better yet: the page that they were uploaded to… I hope that make sense

I read on this thread the end-users can upload directly to the page I want their photos on.. This does NOT need to be “approved” by the admn, correct?

    thank you

Hi, what you can do is attach the uploaded files to the page they were uploaded from. To do this open the visual editor of the plugin, go to Interoperability tab and activate the option Attach Uploaded File to Post. Below this there is also a Gallery option. Activate it also.

Then, when you upload a photo it will be attached to the page and it will be shown right below the upload form as a gallery, together with any other attached photos (you will have to refresh the page to see the lastly uploaded photo).

Hi, thank you for the reply. I guess I should have prefaced by admitting how dumb I am.

To do this open the visual editor of the plugin, go to Interoperability tab

WHERE IS THIS TAB, WHERE DO I FIND IT?
Is it on the actual page where I have placed the ‘file upload” plug in?

Or………IS IT FOUND IN THE CONTROL PANEL? Inside the WP UPLOAD FILE CONTOL PANEL
    I see these options (below)

Main Settings File Browser View Log Maintenance Actions

If I select File Browser, I can scroll down and select “UPLOADS”

Inside uploads I see all the files that my end users uploaded to the page I placed the
plug in on (in). I see the file name, the size, the page it was uploaded to, etc….

I hope that makes sense.. Thank you!!

    WD

and activate the option Attach Uploaded File to Post. Below this there is also a Gallery option. Activate it also.

You can find instructions on how to open and use the visual editor here. It is an easy way to configure the plugin.
