Can I integrate a comment then download solution?

    Hi there, firstly what a great plugin mate! I run a community radio station in Brighton with over 60 DJs.

    I’m essentially looking to create a way that artists/producers can upload or submit their unreleased music for our DJs to review, comment then download the mp3. By doing this we encourage producers to upload their music as they will get feedback from the streaming version (soundcloud etc). At the moment I use gravity forms to get a user to submit a track, then our DJ’s have to be logged in but they can listen, comment and download the track regardless of whether they commented or not.

    I do make any money from this website, so any assistance anyone could provide in terms of ideas, making this plugin work in this way etc would be massively appreciated.

    File Away is pretty versatile. What exactly are you wanting to do with it?

    You can have them upload files to a general folder, or a folder unique to each user, or a folder unique to each user role, or to some specified user meta, whatever you like. Then File Away will make them available as you like. You can do audio playback in a File Away table as well.

    Yea I see it’s very versatile, thats why I figured there might just be a way round my problem..

    If I can just layout the path I would like to happen and see if it’s possible:

    User
    Completes basic form (name, email, record label)
    Then needs to link a streaming version of their music track (soundcloud or online player)
    Add a download URL or upload the actual MP3 of their track

    DJS (staff)
    Goes to a page (hidden from public) that lists the tracks that have been uploaded
    Can listen to the track through a player but NOT download at this point
    DJs leave feedback about the track, then they get the download links
    User gets notified of the feedback comments (via email if possible)

    So do you think this plugin could be setup in this way? I’m prepared to pay you a bit of money to help me as this is a massive feature the DJ’s/Producers want for the site.

    File Away doesn’t do everything you’re needing in this scenario. You want to be doing this using a form system. You’re currently using Gravity forms. Another plugin that would work for you is Formidable Pro.

    You can easily create a system that will do everything you’ve described using Formidable Pro. (I’m sure you could on Gravity forms too, but I’m not very familiar with it.) I’d recommend you skip File Away and just use something like Formidable to create Views of your form entries, and you could then create a list of all the uploaded songs, and show playback under certain conditions, and playback+download under other conditions.
