Can I import my “old” blog into my “new” one to merge them?
-
I have a blog right now. It’s been active for about 3 years maybe. “Active” is a relative word, I guess. But that’s how far back the archives go.
But I used to have a different blog. Still on WP. But for different reasons I stopped it for a bit. Then when I started back up I used the domain I use now. I’d like to be able to import that old blog’s archives into my current one. But here’s the thing: I don’t have a “wordpress database backup”. But what I do have is the whole MySQL db from the old site. Before I shut it down completely I did a backup with phpmyadmin I think. Or a different siteback up option using cPanel.
Anyway, it is from mid to late 2006 I think. So I’m not ever sure what version of WordPress it is. Probably 2.0? But I know the database prefixes are different that what I use now. So do you know of a way to get merge the old blog posts into my current blog?
Could I somehow try to install WP on a diff domain (or subdomain) and import the mysql stuff? It’d require an update of course. But then do a WP backup file, and then import it into my current blog?
Sorry if this is confusing. But it’s been bouncing around in my head the last year or so. Not sure it can be done. I assume it can, but not sure the steps to make it work.
Thanks for thinking about it,
Blake
