Is there a way to exclude a category from your default view? E.g., let’s say I have three categories: news, sports, and beer, and I only want news and sports to appear on my default page. (People would have to follow a link to see the beer posts.)
Is there any way to do that?
    Thanks,
    Greg

  • There’s an entry in the wiki about this. It should help you out.

Yes, that entry is right on target, but one of the instructions doesn’t work with my version of WordPress. Step 3 says to change options like this …
Options > Other Options > what_to_show. Set it to “posts paged”.
But I don’t have “other options” as a category in my options menu. I have …
General Writing Reading Discussion Miscellaneous Permalinks Link Manager
The “Miscellaneous” entry has something called ” Use legacy my-hacks.php file support ” so I suspect that instruction is for an earlier version of WordPress. Anyway, even when I check the “use legacy my-hacks.php” thing it’s not working, and when I use the other instructions on that page, which involve editing index.php, they aren’t working either.

I apologize, that was incorrect. Its under.
Options->Reading-> Show the most recent: (posts paged)
    Hope that helps!
