• I’m using the built-in utility for uploading images, and I am also using it to create thumbnails automatically. The resulting thumbnails frankly look terrible. A good chunk of the color depth is gone, and there is the classic jpeg “blockiness” around complex areas of the image. I’m assuming that WordPress uses some built-in php graphics library to produce these thumbnails. If I am right, is there any way for me to get WordPress to pass some argument asking the library NOT to compress my thumbnails as much?

    Also (though I guess this is really a different topic): As I stated before, I’m uploading images/files through the “upload” screen. Is there any way to utilize sub-directories in my upload folder without using a third-party FTP utility?

    search for Iimage browser – the internal WP image handler is pants to be frank. Here’s a little review I did for it:
