Can I do this with Worpress Gallery?

  • I want to create a gallery on my wordpress site but, when you click on the thumbnail, you get a customized pop-up, like a mini web page, not just the enlarged picture. I’d like to add copy and links to the pop-up. These two sites do exactly what I want when you click on the gallery images. Will the basic WordPress Gallery allow me to do this or at least enable me to add hyperlinks to the pop-up image window? I have to admit I’m a novice and coding isn’t yet part of my skill set.

  • No, a basic WordPress gallery will not do this.

    You’ll have to search around for plugins.

    One idea is to use something like Easy Fancybox to open up iframes, but that doesn’t necessarily apply to image galleries.

    I’m unaware of any free plugins that do this; you might have to google around for premium (paid for) plugins.
