Can I display the first letter of a field in the List?

  • I am collecting first and last name on the Sign-Up form. I would like to display first name and first initial of last name on the List page. Is there a way to grab the first letter of a field? Maybe some sort of substring command?

    If possible, I wanted to do the same with extracting the birth year from the Birthday entered on the Sign-Up page.

    If you’ve got some knowledge of how to use PHP, it’s not difficult. You can create a custom template that alters the display values however you like. Take a look at this article for the basics:

    Sorry to ping you like this, you mentioned somehow using excel to import bulk data?

    Can you give me an indication how you are achieving this?
    I have historical data for our club going back many MANY years and would love to add it to our website (with minimum time cost!)
