    Hi,

It’s been a while i have “WP Author Slug” installed on my wordpress.
Wordfence alerted me that this plugin is not updated anymore.

This plugin “Rewrites the author url to NOT display the username but the display name”

I don’t have much knowledge about wordpress security but i thought this plugin was important. Maybe wordfence does the same job? could you tell me if i can delete this plugin please?

    Thanks
    Mathieu

  • We don’t offer that functionality. I guess if your site has a lot of users it might be difficult but just selecting the display name as the Nickname and changing the Nickname to something other than your username is what I always did. If you want something that changes it automatically you might try this plugin. It has good reviews, was updated fairly recently, works with the latest WordPress version, and the author answers support requests.
Please note : We are not affiliated in any way with this plugin. I searched based on what you were trying to do and found it.
You can also use the Prevent discovery of usernames through ‘/?author=N’ scans, the oEmbed API, and the WordPress REST API option in our plugin to help block the discovery methods of finding usernames.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi
thank you for the detailled answer and your research for me
I’ve deleted “WP Author Slug” and installer “Edit author slug”

I’ve also installed “Google Authenticator – WordPress Two Factor Authentication (2FA , MFA)” to feel safier.

    Thanks again
