Can I create a WP site that has … a parent layer, and then child sub-layers

  • I hope this is the proper forum. I think it is, but if it needs to be moved, I apologize in advance.

    OK, I want to create a WP site that has a top layer for say “shop owners” and then separate layers for specific types of shops, like florists, mechanics, bakeries, etc, etc…

    All registered users can move freely between areas, but each section would have its own forums and notices, etc, etc… A florist, once registered, would pull generic information from the main area, and then go into the florist area for specific messages on their trade. If they wanted to surf over to the mechanic area, to see what information is posted there that they could glean, that would be entirely possible for them to do.

    So, a parent generic area, and then sub-areas devoted to specific trades.

    Suggestions?

    I imagine most forum plugins allow for child forums. You’d need to verify with the forum plugin you are considering. These help forums (using bbPress) at one time had child forums, though they are not currently used. Whether still supported or not I could not say.
