• I have had my blog for almost 7 years. Times have changed and I am starting a new blog which goes live on Friday. I have imported most of my old content (the “old” blog will have a redirect to the new one).

Is is possible to have an archive of all my old site posts, separate from the posts which my new blog will also archive? Sort of a Chapter 1, Chapter 2 type of thing? If there’s a plugin or a way to make the posts sort themselves (custom post types? I’ve never done this before.)

I’m really hoping that this is possible! Thank you!

  • You could create a new category and file all of the old posts in that category but it you want to eliminate these posts on other pages, you’ll need to look into using custom queries.

Okay, about the categories: If I create a category to file all the old posts under, then can I archive by category? I thought the archive plugins just archived everything.

I have Smart Archives Reloaded. I will look at the query posts too. This is all new territory for me.

I categorized all of my old posts with a common name, installed a category plugin and voila’. It’s set up in a widget and it works. Now I just need to find another archive plugin that will play nice, so I can have new/current posts archived too.
