Can I copy files over from my Twenty Twelve Child Theme?

    Logic would suggest I can copy my comments, footer, functions and header.php files into a Tiny Forge Child Theme, but I decided to ask about that before actually trying. My biggest concern here is about being able to keep the custom footer area and widgets I already have in my Twenty Twelve Child Theme, and I got that from here:
