• I have been asked by some of my repeat clients if I could create a dummy membership site that I could then clone and sell to them for new projects. The theme design, layout, plugin configuration, etc… would be exactly the same, except for colors, images and copy which would be specific to that site. The idea would be that the cost would be lower- because no design work and the site is already 90% configured with plugins etc… Secondly, this would cut down development time by about 30 days. So sounds like a great idea. Is this possible?

The wordpress site would have a custom them that has about 10 page layout designs plus all of the usual plugins that I use, including wishlistmember or s2member.

Is there an easy way to build a dummy site and then clone that site to a brand new server with a totally different url?

What are the issues that will arise from doing this?

    – Will the database revert to the old url? Is there an easy cloner that can update the url to the new one.

    – Will I be able to update all of the plugins once the new url is setup before we swap out content?

    – are there other issues Im not aware of that will make this seemingly easy and great idea not workable in reality?

I read this forum posting and its almost exactly what I want to do. It wasnt really clear whether the poster was successful or not.
