• Hi there,

is there a way of changing the “Read More” link to work in multiple languages, when using the Polylang plugin?

For example, my site is in German and Dutch, with a respective version of each page. I want to change the “Read More” link to read “mehr…” in German and “meer…” in Dutch.

So far, it seems that I can only change the “Read More” link to be one of the options above, but not both. Making this conditional by returning the current language of the respective site and then conditionally return the $read_more_text might work, but I haven’t gotten far yet (I am not very proficient in PHP).

Does anyone have a solution for that?

    Thanks
    Dominik

    Hi @dosterholt,

Thanks for using the plugin! This should be possible as-is, but I haven’t actually tested it. I’ll try to take a look at this more next week.

@dosterhold, I was able to look into this a little more. I had a few mistaken assumptions about Polylang and supporting translation of “Read More” (and other strings) in Feature a Page Widget will require some development.

I am interested in doing this, but it may be a while before I can get to it.

Unfortunately, while this plugin does have a partial German translation, it does not include a translation for “Read More.” If you or someone else wanted to update the German translation and/or submit a Dutch translation, I’d love to include it! If the German translation can get to 100%, I can actually just drop the translation files and use the newer “language pack” feature.
