I have a website which uses wordpress. And, on the google search results, in the title (i.e the blue text) it says my website domain name followed by the text ‘Just another weblog’.

I would really like to change this ‘just another weblog’ text to something different (like a slogan) as I don’t want people to think that my website was made using wordpress.

So please tell me what I have to do to change this.

Thanks for ur help in advance.

Try changing the ‘Tagline’ in the General Settings of your blog.

Admin > Settings > General, then edit the tagline.

That’s strange. I had already changed the tagline about 10 days ago. I only submitted my website to google yesterday so perhaps it takes some time for Google to realise that i have changed my tagline (which is a bit weird i changed my tagline prior to submitting it to google but oh well). Well, I don’t know what else i can do. I’m a bit confused now.

    Any ideas people?

p.s thx to alism and vopka for their attempts to help.

    Ahhh, right, I see.

So you’ve already changed it and it looks fine on your site now, that right? It can take a while for Google to update, particularly for new sites. If you’ve got few or no incoming links, they’ll not be in a huge rush to visit your site again to find out what’s changed since last time. Just be patient and it’ll get picked up eventually when they next crawl your site.

Otherwise, post your site url and the text you think should appear in the search results pages and we’ll take a look to see if anything else is amiss.

The website was created about 2 weeks ago. I changed the tagline about 10 days ago. And I submitted the website to Google yesterday.

So when you say ‘they’ll not being a rush to visit your site and find out what has changed since last time’ it’s just that i only submitted the website to google yesterday. Unless Google identified my website before I submitted it to them somehow and so maybe they the details of my website from before I changed the tagline?????

hmmmm. Would be interesting to hear what you all have to say about this. Please people do tell me what you think about this if you think you could help me out here. thanks in advance.

thx alism for ur help ur a star.

Google monitors new domain registrations for quicker URL discovery, so if you’ve registered a domain name for your blog – they’ll know.
