Can Google News deal with a category when sitemap exclude taxonomy pages?

    Hello
    The note on the settings page discourages adding categories to the XML site map:

    It is generally not recommended to include taxonomy pages, unless their content brings added value.

    However, I applied to Google News specifying that the news posts are fond in a given category. example.com/category/news/

    Will Google be able to deal with that specific category even if there are no taxonomy pages on my sitemap?
